About Us

Markland Specialty Engineering Limited was founded in 1967 by J.R. (Reg) Tansony, and was launched with his patented Duckbill™ Automatic Composite Sampling System.  Under his leadership, Markland was honoured with awards for two of its instruments:​

• the Model 600 Automatic Sludge Blanket Level Detector: Environmental Science & Engineering Magazine’s Award of Excellence – Equipment Category, as part of its National Environmental Awards Program, recognising Excellence in Environmental Design Facilities
• the Model 10 Sludge Gun® Portable Sludge Level Detector: Pollution Engineering Magazine’s 5-Star Award, for significant advancement in environmental control technology.

Since then, Markland has continued to build upon those accomplishments — designing and manufacturing process control instrumentation that is used in water, wastewater and process industries around the globe — and offering products that reduce costs to the customer and the environment.
